WASHINGTON - Sept. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Biodiversity for a Livable Climate, a Boston-area nonprofit with a newly founded chapter in Washington, D.C., has a hopeful message to deliver to those who have gathered in our nation's capitol in support of the Pope's visit to Congress calling for moral action on climate change.

In partnership with Moral Action on Climate, People Demanding Action, and the University of the District of Columbia School of Law, Biodiversity for a Livable Climate presents RESTORING ECOSYSTEMS TO REVERSE GLOBAL WARMING, a unique one-day conference that aims to introduce participants to the tremendous potential of biological systems to take CO2 out of the atmosphere and sequester it back in the soil.

This landmark conference will explore science-based evidence looking at the state of the climate and how to reverse global warming through eco-restoration; the role of businesses and policymakers; land management best practices including various approaches to ranching and farming that improve soil health and carbon sequestration, productivity, water cycles, and local economies; and a new paradigm for climate activism that goes beyond merely reducing fossil fuel emissions and emphasizes the tremendous potential of storing gigatons of excess atmospheric carbon in soils. Participants will leave empowered with the knowledge of how to implement hands-on solutions in their local communities to begin restoring the planet.

Speakers include: Adam Sacks, Executive Director at Biodiversity for a Livable Climate; Jim Laurie, Restoration Ecologist at Biodiversity for a Livable Climate; Dr. Leah Rampy, Climate Leader with the Climate Reality Project; Dan Kittredge of the Bionutrient Food Association; Precious Phiri, Founding Director of EarthWisdom Consulting Company; Nick Maravell, Farmer at Nick’s Organic Farm; Will Mitchell, Founder of Tenleytown Meat Company; Alexis Baden-Mayer of the Organic Consumers Association; Larry Kopald, Co-founder and President of The Carbon Underground; Lincoln Smith, Founder of Forested LLC; Fritz Gottschalk of Veteran Compost; and Sudheer Shukla, outreach coordinator at Biodiversity for a Livable Climate and part of Citizens Climate Lobby.

For maximum affordability, tickets prices are on a sliding scale from $10-$50.
