Lynne Torgerson Wins At United States Supreme Court

MINNEAPOLIS - Oct. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Lynne Torgerson wins at the United States Supreme Court.  The United States Supreme Court denied the State of Minnesota’s petition for a writ of certiorari, thus securing to Torgerson’s client his victory at the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.  This settles an approximately 2 1/2 year battle for Torgerson and her client, and will establish 6th Amendment law across the State of Minnesota and beyond, thus affecting thousands of cases.  In Bobadilla v. Carlson, it was established that the State cannot introduce the notorious Cornerhouse videotapes, because they are barred by the 6th Amendment to the United States Constitution’s Confrontation Clause.  Defendant’s are not to be convicted by the statements of an unsworn, absent witness.  Excellent result Ms. Torgerson!

Ms. Torgerson obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, majoring in Political Science and Psychology.  She obtained her law degree, with Honors, from William Mitchell College of Law.  There, she was also a Member of Law Review.

In 1990, Ms. Torgerson was admitted to practice law in the State of Minnesota.  In 1995, Ms. Torgerson founded her own law firm, a successful practice she has had in downtown Minneapolis to the present.  In 2009, Ms. Torgerson prevailed in a case at the United States Supreme Court, after prevailing at the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.  The case involved Sixth Amendment Right of Confrontation issues.  In 2010, Ms. Torgerson was awarded an Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer, based on merit.

Ms. Torgerson has been admitted to the State Bar of Minnesota, Minnesota Court of Appeals, Minnesota Supreme Court, United States District Court, District of Minnesota, Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
