By: Reliance Group

DELHI, India - Oct. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- The Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group has become the first official Indian partner of the UN-led Global Goals Campaign that aims reaching out to seven billion people in seven days on the key point of sustainable development.

The campaign, which’s a brainchild of ace filmmaker and founder of Comic Relief, Richard Curtis aims at putting out the 17 global targets settled upon by leaders of 193 nations relating to curbing poverty, fighting off inequality and injustice, and discovering sustainable solutions to climate change by 2030.

The campaign will also be aired live on a seven-day pop-up global radio station broadcasted in a total of 45 nations which will see celebrities like actor Hrithik Roshan and composer A R Rahman play hosts. An original score by Peter Gabriel has been picked as the official soundtrack for the event.

92.7 Big FM, Reliance Group’s official radio station with 42-million listeners in 1,200 towns and 50,000+ villages, has also signed up as the first Indian radio broadcasting station to partner the campaign.

"Our mandate at the Reliance Group is to actively contribute to building 'Tomorrow's India'," said Tina Ambani, chair of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and founder of Harmony for Silvers Foundation and Harmony Art Foundation that oversees the group's social obligations.

"We believe this is possible by taking along each stakeholder and every segment of society. We view partnerships and co-creation as critical means to usher in sustainable development. The campaign was also envisioned with a similar mandate to reach out to the masses," she said.

"We are integrating the campaign into our business processes and promoting the same through our various customer-facing platforms."

Mrs Ambani was quite recently featured by Hello! India Magazine on its list of 23 of the most powerful change-makers of the world which had some more illustrious names like Queen Rania, Melinda Gates, Parmeshwar Godrej, Anand Mahindra, Richard Branson, Akshay Kumar, and Richard Curtis.

"The Millennium Development Goals halved extreme poverty across the world. The new Global Goals for Sustainable Development give us the opportunity to end it for good. There's no point in going half way," Curtis said.

"By making Global Goals famous we can give them their best chance of working around the world and help make us the first generation to end extreme poverty, the most determined generation in history to end injustice, inequality and the last generation to be threatened by climate change."
