Colorado Association of Nurse Anesthetists Welcomes New President, President-Elect to Board of Dir

Lisa Pearson and Karrey Terry to take over top positions in Colorado professional organization.

DENVER - Oct. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- The Board of Directors for the Colorado Association of Nurse Anesthetists (CoANA) today announced two changes in leadership and welcomed Lisa Pearson DNAP, CRNA, as President, and Karrey Terry, DNP, CRNA, as President-Elect. CoANA (http://www.coana.org/) is a professional organization supporting certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) in the state of Colorado.

As President of CoANA, Dr. Lisa Pearson will forward the goals of the organization to promote the best interests of its members, cooperate with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, facilitate cooperation between nurse anesthetists and the medical profession, hospitals and other agencies interested in anesthesia and in general to advance the science and the art of anesthesia. Dr. Pearson currently practices in southeastern Colorado providing anesthesia and pain management services to patients. Dr. Pearson earned her master’s degree from Newman University and her doctoral degree from the University of Virginia. She is double board certified in anesthesia and pain management as well as being a diplomat in the American Academy of Pain Management.

Dr. Pearson is joined in a leadership role at CoANA by Dr. Karrey L. Terry who will serve as the President-Elect of the organization. Dr. Terry practices at the Children's Hospital Colorado, providing general and regional anesthesia to infants and pediatric patients. Dr. Terry earned her bachelor's degree from Weber State University and master's degree from California State University, Fullerton- Kaiser Permanente School of Nurse Anesthesia in 2002. She completed her doctoral degree from University of Colorado Denver in December of 2014.

“I am excited to work with Dr. Terry in leading CoANA and its members over the coming year,” stated Dr. Pearson. “As President, I hope to promote our profession as a whole and help educate our community – from patients, to hospital administrators and Colorado state legislators – on the important role nurse anesthetists play in the fabric of Colorado’s healthcare.”

CRNAs provide anesthesia services in 99.9 percent of the counties in Colorado that have surgical services and are the sole anesthesia provider in 71 percent of the rural hospitals in Colorado. CoANA was founded May 6, 1936 as a professional organization to support the 512 CRNAs who practice in Colorado.
