OSO smart logistics demos bridge global best practice with China reality

Bridging US best practice with China on-the-ground reality, OSO Solutions launched four cutting-edge logistics demo rooms covering warehouse, transport, retail, and robotics at its Beijing headquarters.

BEIJING - Oct. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- “China leads developed economies in e-commerce and last-mile logistics, yet trails far behind in third-party logistics, warehousing, and trunk transport, which is precisely the sweet spot for OSO solutions,” remarked OSO founder and CEO Han Fei at the demo launch.

Dozens of logistics, technology, and investment professionals attending the Beijing launch event experienced firsthand the four cloud-based demos modeled on OSO-developed warehouse (WMS), transport (TMS), and yard (YMS) solutions currently running in both the US and China markets.

Tsinghua University IE Association President Zhang Yu opened the OSO launch event noting that “The China logistics sector is on the brink of unprecedented technological transformations in efficiency and transparency being delivered by technology innovation leaders such as OSO.

OSO CTO and robotics expert Bill Huang explained that rather than settle for Kiva-like track-controlled approaches, OSO aspires to perfect algorithms that enable robots (forklifts and assistants) to see and move about in warehouses based on cameras and multi-sensor integration.

“The key,” continued Han, “is to effectively translate best-in-class solutions to suit the unique logistics realities in China. We pride ourselves on being ‘hands-on’ and we develop solutions ‘designed by operators’ that facilitate operational excellence.” Han further explained that unlike many software companies who happen to launch a logistics product, the OSO team literally moved a lot of boxes before, and while, developing its solutions.”

OSO cloud-based solutions bring internet efficiencies to supply chains, and install as apps on any android device with roles assigned for various positions including supervisor, laborer, gatekeeper, window and driver. The systems visualize, control, and optimize warehouse, transport, and yard operations. Because the solutions are user-friendly and intuitive, they require minimum investment in training.

About OSO: Founded by 35-year old Han Fei, a national Java programming champion at 19, who worked for Lenovo, Dell, and Oracle. In 2005, Fei set up a cross-border retail platform that included six warehouses in China and the US that he used as a laboratory to perfect an end-to-end suite of warehouse and logistics software which he then implemented for a major 3PL, connecting Foxconn/Vizio with Walmart/Costco, shipping over eight million TVs annually. In 2015, OSO shifted its focus to China, bringing best practice and software that has proved itself in the US market.

The meaning of OSO: “Online-Synchs-Offline” or OSO describes the pivotal role the internet and cloud-based logistics solutions can play in synchronizing (directing, optimizing, and reporting) nearly all offline business processes, including logistics.
