Oct. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- The material is sprayed using the latest control technology at supersonic levels and then cooled using liquid carbon dioxide.

B&B Coatings invests heavily in the latest technologies to meet customer demand for increasingly effective coating applications and the acquisition of the coatings equipment to carry out this cutting edge process is just the latest in a series of such high value investments.

B&B Coatings are now one of a limited number of companies globally that can offer High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) Thermal Spray Coatings incorporating liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) cooling. The recently installed, state-of-the-art facility, also incorporates an automated robotic spray system.

The coatings that can be applied using this process can dramatically improve the performance of the base material.  Customers’ parts can be made to be harder and more wear resistant, made to withstand extremely high temperatures and are able to be used in the most extreme corrosive environments.  Using CO2 cooling produces higher quality coatings than conventional air cooled systems.

The process is used by customers from a wide range of industrial sectors who need their products to achieve the highest performance standards in demanding applications.  This includes industries such as oil & gas, power generation and mining. B&B Coatings also help their customers to reduce product cost by using a lower cost base material that can then be coated to enable the finished product to meet the performance standards required.

“This really is leading edge technology, right here in West Yorkshire” states Steven Haigh, Managing Director of B&B Coatings.  “Here at B&B we have consistently invested in the business to meet customers’ requirements, and this latest investment put us amongst just a select handful of companies in the world that can offer such a process”, he added.

B&B Coatings employs 30 people in Clayton West, Huddersfield, Yorkshire and is part of the B&B Engineering Group which also incorporates Grinding and Precision Engineering divisions.
