U.S. Submarine Veterans Visit Sick ChildrenIn honor of US Submariners, who gave their lives for their country, the United States Submarine Veterans Inc. (USSVI) celebrates Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS) Week. This is done near and throughout the week that includes Veterans Day, November 11th, and provides a special focus on conducting visits to child care facilities nationwide. The “SS” in Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS) is a military specialty warfare designator, signifying that a sailor is “Qualified in Submarines”.

(USSVI) GROTON, Conn. - Nov. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS) is a Community Outreach Program whose goal is to bring smiles to children battling medically challenging conditions. During the year, Submarine Veterans at USSVI Bases around the country visit kids in Children’s Hospitals, cancer hospitals, hospices, child psychiatric facilities, Ronald McDonald Houses and camps for sick children, etc. On these visits, they make the children “Honorary Submariners”
Submarine veterans have brought comfort and joy to over 18,000 sick children since the program began in 2007. The USSVCF was formed to further the purpose of the USSVI, which, in part, is to “Perpetuate the memory of shipmates who gave their lives in the pursuit of their duties, while serving their country”. www.ussvi.org End
