By: Sustainable Innovations, LLC EAST HARTFORD, Conn. & NEW YORK - Nov. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Sustainable Innovations is pleased to announce it has been awarded a Phase II SBIR contract from NASA to develop a hydrogen resource recovery system (HRR). Sustainable Innovations’
The heart of the HRR is a commercial product platform currently under development by Sustainable Innovations, H2RENEW™. The H2RENEW™ is an electrochemical system that efficiently separates and compresses hydrogen using Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology for industrial applications without relying on moving parts. The H2RENEW™ benefits critically important industry sectors including metals processing, glass manufacture, semiconductor manufacture and others where hydrogen is commonly used to treat materials and devices; providing them performance properties that are critical to their end use. This unique H2RENEW™ system contains an electrochemical cell architecture capable of withstanding high pressures, giving H2RENEW™ the capability to successfully separate and compress pure hydrogen in a single step. This “no moving parts” feature greatly simplifies system designs, offering enhanced performance and reliability over competitive solutions. Current market pressures are increasing the demand for safer, packaged, on-site, high-purity hydrogen supply alternatives that will increase security while reducing hazards and cost. The H2RENEW™ platform is a distributed system that recycles, compresses, and generates pure hydrogen. The ability to efficiently perform hydrogen purification presents an attractive economic opportunity, both in industrial gas applications and for the hydrogen fueling market, as for fuel cell vehicles.
