Acclaimed Dance Company MOMIX Brings Lush, Illusionist Show Botanica to

Watch the seasons come to life through an illusionist/dance masterpiece when MOMIX Botanica hits the stage at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. Led by the co-founder of Pilobolus, which thrilled Harbison Theatre audiences in 2012, the internationally acclaimed contemporary dance company MOMIX brings nature to the edge of the stage. In a matinee performance unlike anything seen before in the Midlands, dancers in fantastical costumes – embellished with view-altering props, projections and lush backdrops – will take audiences on a fantastic voyage through the beauty of nature.

Under the direction of Moses Pendleton, MOMIX Botanica follows nature’s changing, vibrant imagery during the cycle of the seasons from winter to spring; summer to fall – and the magical, transformative times in between. The 10-member ensemble, featuring five women and five men, effortlessly transform the stage into a whimsical yet cerebral revival of the four seasons using the human body with spellbinding accompaniments.

Dancers whirl like dervishes, emerge from cresting waves and move majestically through the forest. A dinosaur skeleton comes to life, blooming marigolds twirl open, and a dancer’s mirrored reflection becomes a spectacular, many-limbed creature. Optical illusions abound in MOMIX Botanica.
