Follow on Google News | EnCon United Announces Stresscon Project Wins PCI Design AwardBy: EnCon United/Stresscon Located in Loveland, Colo., the facility is an addition to the city's public campus. The expansion project doubles the capacity for the Public Works Department, adding new efficiency for the City. Large meeting spaces, upgraded heated storage units, and space for more staff were incorporated into the project to join together multiple work teams from the Loveland Public Works Department. The new energy efficient building includes high-performance insulated precast concrete wall panels chosen to add durability and energy efficiency to the project. This is the City's second LEED certified building project, recognizing building strategies and practices for high-performance green buildings. Use of local materials and recycled steel in the precast panels contributed to LEED points. With edge to edge insulation, the wall panels achieve an R-value well in excess of the ASHRAE 90.1 requirements for wall systems. A collaborative design-build team including RNL Design, Monroe & Newell, Golden Triangle Construction, and Stresscon Corporation participated in creation of the 45,274 square foot facility addition in three structures. Stresscon provided 221 precast pieces, including double tees, Hollow core, insulated wall panels and solid wall panels. Use of an architectural gray and white acid-etch design with multiple colors and simple detailing blends the design with the existing campus color schemes. The use of varied precast panel types and a unique ribbed form liner design allow for architectural detailing on the building facade. The City of Loveland's Service Center has been serving residents for almost 30 years. The buildings house the public works' solid wastes, storm water, and street departments. End
