SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Nov. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- The Sun Devils are a special breed of Athlete which seems to develop and prosper as the year’s progress. And this past season was no different. ASU FC cruised through the season and made it to the Regional Championship game once again for the fourth straight year.

Although the ball did not fall in the favor of the Sun Devils, it was a riveting game which put the Sun Devils on the map for another great season. ASU FC’s leading goal scorer was Ali Tarawri and it was quite a show to watch him work his magic game in and game out. With the speed and agility of a cheetah and the strength that would put John Cena to shame, Ali was consistently double man marked and still rose to the occasion.

More recently, the bout between Grand Canyon University and ASU was no different. Although it was a team effort, Ali finished the game comfortably with a hat trick. Other goal scorers were Stefan Speno, Duncan Harrison, Team Captain Marco Gutierrez, and Tarek Salama. The final score of this bloodbath was 7-1 with GCU scoring early in the 2nd half. With GCU joining Region VI in the upcoming collegiate season, it was crucial for ASU to establish themselves as a dominant force for the season to come. This exhibition match may have been all fun and games; it was in preparation for the season to come.

This winter and spring will be a whole new level of competition in their inaugural season of the UPSL. The UPSL is a Professional Development league based out of Orange County, CA. It is expanding horizons by adding new conferences in Arizona and Nevada. This upcoming weekend will mark the start of a new semi-professional outdoor league in Arizona in the hopes of long-term growth for soccer in the United States.

For the first game of the Arizona Conference season the Sun Devils will face off against the Arizona Scorpions on November 14th at 6pm. In the upcoming season ASU FC will be playing all of their matches at ASU West Campus. It has been rumored these fields compare to those of Old Trafford. Other teams ASU FC will face-off against this season are Gorilla Elite FC, Phoenix Monsoon, amongst other teams from California and Nevada.

Ultimately this is not only an amazing direction for soccer at ASU, but statewide. Home grown soccer is growing exponentially in Arizona with the recent emergence of Arizona United in the USL and the Indoor powerhouse Arizona Impact in the PASL. With the addition of this league and participating teams, there’s no telling what the future of soccer holds in this blazing heat. Dare I say MLS in the coming years?

With all the excitement brewing in this emerging market ASU FC player and owner Ryan Martin humbly states, “I’m proud to be a Sun Devil and proud to provide one of the first few steps Arizona needs to become the next hub for soccer in America. “ If you want all the updates and breaking news for the upcoming season, be sure to follow ASU FC on Facebook (www.facebook.com/asufootballclub) and Twitter (@TheASUFC).
