In its eighth year, the Miss California Latina competition has grown into the largest state competition for women of Latin descent. This will be the first time the annual event will be televised. Azteca stations KAZA Los Angeles and KEMO San Francisco will broadcast a half hour presentation show of the competition on Sunday, December 6th. Miss California Latina is a preliminary to the national Miss U.S. Latina event, the most prestigious and well known pageant system in the world for Latinas living in the United States, as well as the longest-running, since 1983. Winner of Miss U.S. Latina goes on to compete in the worldwide competition of Miss America Latina del Mundo, representing the United States. Miss Teen California Latina is the state preliminary to the national Miss Teen U.S. Latina event held in the United States. Miss California Latina competition weekend kicks-off with the annual premiere media event on Friday, November 20th, where all 35 delegates are introduced to the media during the annual Purple Carpet Event at the luxurious SLS Hotel Beverly Hills, located at 463 S. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048. The event will be hosted by Miss Teen California Latina 2015, Lynda Shanell Aguayo, and will include special guest Jocelyn Martinez, Miss U.S. Latina 2015. The coronation show will be hosted by international television host and former Miss Canada Latina, Ninela Sanchez, and television personality and former Miss Ohio Latina, Carolina Peguero. The show features performances by Carlos Arturo, Tru Addiction, and Josue Hernandez, celebrity guests, and the crowning of a winner in both the Miss and Teen divisions. The competition show begins at 6pm on Sunday, November 20th at the Sunrider International World Headquarters Ballroom located at 1625 Abalone Ave., Torrance, CA 90501. During the interview portion, the judges will focus their scoring on personality, culture, intellect, success, talents, goals, and ambitions while paying special attention to each candidate’s poise, self-confidence, community involvement and educational achievements. Throughout the beachwear competitions, each candidate will be judged on physical fitness and confidence. During the evening gown segment, contestants will be expected to demonstrate self-confidence, sense of style, beauty, and grace while modeling the gown of their choice. One lucky contestant from each division will be granted an automatic spot in the semi-finals if selected as the “People’s Choice Award” held via donation voting.
