Nov. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Carlisle Events and Carlisle Auctions hosted the first-ever Fall Florida AutoFest at the SUN 'n FUN complex in Lakeland the second week of November. The event was formerly held in Zephyrhills, and the new facility allowed for a bigger auction than ever before. The auction ran November 13-14 at SUN 'n FUN and welcomed hundreds of bidders, thousands of spectators and 400+ classic cars, trucks and airplanes. While not every consignment sold, this auction was a massive success for Carlisle Auctions and considered a great stepping stone for what the future holds.

Friday, November 13 was day one of the two-day collector car auction, and the weather could not have been better in Lakeland. Sunny skies graced row after row of consignment vehicles that were on display outside of the Hangar A building where the auction was held. Inside the building, more vehicles, airplanes and merchandise were waiting to be auctioned off, and overflow buildings were also needed for the mass amount of consignments. Buyers and sellers slowly began to fill the building at 9:30am Friday and the crowd really began to pick up around 11:00, with the Showcase Vehicles starting to hit the block. The fun continued until dusk with money, drinks and cars flowing through the building.

The auction picked right back up again Saturday morning, with familiar sights and sounds carrying on throughout the day. The highlight of day two was the 1980 Pontiac Trans Am being auctioned off with famous actor Burt Reynolds behind the microphone. The Bandit replica was sold for just under $50,000 and then was also signed by the Bandit himself, Burt. A portion of that final sale price was donated to the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre.

Carlisle Auctions did over three million in sales throughout the two days, with a few cars totaling over $100,000 each. Among the top sellers was a 1988 Ferrari Testarossa which went for $115,000 and a 1967 Corvette selling at $104,500. Other desirable consignments included a 1967 Mercedes Benz which sold for $78,500, a 1955 Jaguar xk140 priced at $75,000 and finally a unique 1968 Amphicar 770 which brought in $53,500.

Carlisle Auctions returns to SUN 'n FUN in a few months for Winter Florida AutoFest, February 25-28. Consignments are now being accepted and interested parties should call 717-960-6400. For that event, the special guest will be Dukes of Hazzard star Tom Wopat. Complete details are available at www.CarlisleAuctions.com and www.CarlisleEvents.com.
