Luxury pet furniture by Austrian princess Katalin zu Windischgraetz

Born behind the Iron Curtain in Hungary, Princess Katalin is also fashion royalty. As a high fashion model in Hungary she appeared on over 300 covers and was shot by the legendary photographer Norman Parkinson who came to communist Hungary especially to photograph her. Seventeen years later Parkinson also photographed Katalin’s own-designed collection of glamorous ball gowns - for French Harper’s Bazaar, when she was at the height of her fashion career. After modelling for some years, Katalin escaped communist Hungary and established her own fashion brand in Vienna and before expanding her design influence globally when she moved to the United States in 1979.

The enterprising Princess soon established herself as a rising star in New York’s Seventh Avenue fashion world, specialising in “after-five” ranges which included glamorous cocktail dresses and ball gowns. Whilst rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty including the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, her creations began to appear in renowned department and specialty stores.  Bergdorf-Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman-Marcus, and Henri Bendel, were some of the many hanging her designs in their establishments. In 1984, she became the major designer and CEO of Jerry Silverman Inc., a $10,000,000 annual fashion wholesaler.

After the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1991, Katalin left the US and returned to Hungary where she created a new company with a ready-to-wear collection which was sold across Hungary and opened a flagship store in Budapest. On returning to her home country, Princess Katalin also re-established the world-famous Hungarian Red Cross Gala, after 50 years of silence. The Gala committee involved all different political parties in Hungary and was also patronised by Princess Michael of Kent and Árpád Göncz, President of the Republic of Hungary to raise money for orphaned children.

After retiring from the fashion industry and moving to Marbella, Princess Katalin zu Windischgraetz founded KZW Pet Interiors to create top end furniture which would provide the perfect beds and toy boxes for some of the world’s most wealthy dog-lovers. Exuding elegance, the opulently styled pet beds have intricate embroideries and are made of the best quality materials. KZW Pet Interiors was founded in 2012 and Princess Katalin envisioned all of the designs and developed the manufacturing process from start to finish. Built of top quality wood, KZW Pet Interiors’ creations are designed in a high-end Marbella studio before three handpicked Andalusian carpenters give shape to the design. The last stages of the process involve the intricate hand painting of the beds and sewing of the top quality mattresses and covers.  - which can be easily washed and replaced.

There is a not a one size fits all solution for all dogs, hence the collection includes a wide range of pieces which are adapted for all breeds and dogs weighing up to 55kg each. The collection includes beds, sofas, mattresses and toy boxes with hundreds of different designs inspired from the 16^th Century Baroque up to 21^st Century contemporary styles.

Comfort and quality are also of importance. The design structure of has been backed by vets and ethologists as some of the most well-designed pet furniture on the market. The designs include high quality resilience foam mattresses and side rests which are breathable with air ventilation. To assure the body bests adapts to the bed, the mattresses have viscoelastic memory foam on the top side, which relieves the pressure and gives support at the same time. The total height of the mattress is based on the height of the pet and for oval shaped models the mattresses are longer so that the dog can stretch out.
