Geekonomicon 2015 to Host Dedicated Dieselpunk Programming Track

Nov. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Geekonomicon, the premier pop culture and sci-fi con on the Gulf Coast, in partnership with John Pyka Productions and The Diesel Powered Podcast is proud to present the first dedicated Dieselpunk programming track at a mainstream comic and pop con Dec 11 – 13 at the Gulf Coast Coliseum Convention Center 2350 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi, MS 39531 Biloxi, MS.

Dieselpunk is a celebration of the retro futurism of the 1920s – 1940s. The genre asks “what if” and presents the future of tomorrow through yesterday’s eyes. The visual aesthetics incorporate elements of art deco, noir, prohibition, flappers, gangsters, and the Great Wars combined with sci-fi, fantasy, magic, alt history, and future technology to create a unique and distinct genre.

Leading the programming track is John Pyka, producer and host of the Diesel Powered Podcast – The Voice of Dieselpunk on iTunes, Stitcher, and around the web! John is most well known as the character of “Big Daddy Cool” Johnny Dellarocca and can be seen at events around the country presenting his Dieselpunk flavored live shows alongside The Bombshell Kittens! Larry Amyett, one of the founding fathers of Dieselpunk and the co-creator of the Diesel Powered Podcast, will also be on hand to present several panels and serve as the Dieselpunk Guest of Honor!

Among the planned activities Geekonomicon will host a Friday Night USO Dance, Two live shows starring Big Daddy Cool, Ava Dahl, and The Bombshell Kittens, and a World Record attempt for most Dieselpunks in One Room! Programming will also include panels and performances featuring John Wofford, Daisy O’Dair, “Big Daddy Cool” and  Larry Amyett.

“We are so excited to be a part of Geekonomicon” said Guest of Honor Larry Amyett. “While smaller niche cons have offered a focus on Dieselpunk, Geekonomicon is the first major mainstream con to do so!”
