RICHMOND, Va. - Dec. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Richmond, VA, December 3, 2015:  Dr. James E. Thompson, Medical Director for Clean Life Medical (CLM) and Brandi Fincham, CLM Recovery Coach had major roles in a documentary prepared for Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring’s office which had its’ first public screening December 2 at the Library of Virginia.

Dr. Thompson states that he is honored to participate in this project aimed at impacting the epidemic use of heroin and prescription drugs in the Commonwealth of Virginia that claimed more lives in 2014 than car crashes.  He reinforced the need for accessible, comprehensive and affordable addiction detox and recovery services.  “Hopefully the ‘shock and awe’ effect of the documentary will start conversations at all levels regarding the risks and seriousness of addiction.  Facing and overcoming this crisis must include treatment programs, like we have at Clean Life Medical, that are integrated with traditional recovery programs, like we have at McShin.  Our collaboration with The McShin Foundation and it's founder, John Shinsholser, adds that key medical component of treatment to the already comprehensive recovery services McShin offers to recovering addicts; that alliance is the key to successful recovery”.  Mr. Shinholser and members of The McShin Foundation staff also played prominent roles in the Attorney General’s documentary.

Addiction is a disease that cuts across all social and demographic lines and the number of documented overdose deaths has risen dramatically throughout the state.  The Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper reports that the screening was attended by approximately 250 individuals, including the Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources, William A. Hazel, Jr., MD.
