Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art Receives $20,000 Grant from National Endowment for the Arts

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Dec. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced today that the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) will receive a grant in the amount of $20,000 to support an unprecedented exhibition; Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose (http://virginiamoca.org/turnthepage), May 22-December 31, 2016.

Turn the Page is a collaborative initiative by two like-minded organizations – MOCA and Hi-Fructose, The New Contemporary Art Magazine, based in San Francisco, CA. The exhibition is a retrospective of the magazine, curated by MOCA, which will feature 50 of the foremost contemporary artists of this decade. Works from artists like Beth Cavener, Wim Delvoye, Ron English, Shepard Fairey, Kate MacDowell, Olek, Mark Ryden, Wayne White, Kehinde Wiley and many others have never been shown together in one location at one time.

“Turn the Page is the largest exhibition MOCA has undertaken. Not only will it advance the Museum’s mission in educating the public on the significant art of today, it will undoubtedly spark dialogue through the diverse works of these boundary breaking artists,” said MOCA’s Executive Director, Debi Gray. “We are incredibly grateful to the NEA for this grant which will help fund the associated costs of bringing an exhibition of this caliber to Virginia Beach.”

In its first 50 years, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded more than $5 billion in grants to recipients in every state and U.S. jurisdiction, the only arts funder in the nation to do so. Today, the NEA announced awards totaling more than $27.6 million in its first funding round of fiscal year 2016.
