Follow on Google News | New Community Center in Stone Mountain, GAThe Stone Mountain Community Center (SMCC) opened its doors on May 26th, 2015, providing Stone Mountain-area individuals exposed to a an state-of-the-art opportunity to partake in sports, dance, music, acting, and life skill enrichment.
By: Stone Mountain Community Center SMCC is the home of several AAU and Basketball Leagues along with cheerleading programs and training for youth of all ages. Feature entertainment events for all ages will periodically be open to the public such as basketball games and competitions hosted by professional Streetball/Entertainment Basketball and ABA players, concerts by industry-known celebrities and underground artists, in-house recitals, and motivational speaking engagements. SMCC is not a typical gym, performing arts or community center facility. Youth and adults who participate with the Center will receive more than just the minimal coaching for their area of interest. The coaches, teachers, tutors and mentors affiliated with SMCC are professionals in their own niche and have come together on a united front to develop a voice in the community with hopes of reviving, enriching, motivating and meeting needs. According to Co-Owner Debra Adams, ‘in order to the meet the needs of the community we need to go to them. We all have needs. Let’s come together to help fill them.” The SMCC has consistently not just held events but also went out into the community recruited individuals of all ages and families to attend and then assist in transporting them to the event if needed. Co-owners Chris Hales and Debra Adams are committed to working hands-on day to day in the facility with the children and adults to offer a safe haven focusing on a unique, caring and supportive atmosphere. While SMCC has a clear focus on youth there are events and training for all ages and are normally offered both in group settings and in most cases as one-on-one private training. There are programs for all socioeconomic levels; many of the offerings are free or discounted. Staff/ Through exposure to SMCC’s exclusive and innovative programs, participants will utilize their natural talents and interests to develop the skills which will prepare them for the world’s stage and life’s challenges, while enjoying the world in which they live.
