Community Resilience Team from Wiltshire in flooding clean up effort in Cumbria

Update on Wiltshire & Hampshire volunteers deployed to Cumbrian floods

KESWICK, U.K. - Dec. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- The Serve On teams from Salisbury and Portsmouth are nearing completion of their deployment to the floods in Cumbria which have left so many families and businesses in a devastating situation just before Christmas. The team joined forces with Team Rubicon, One Nation and other Muslim groups from all over the UK to assist the people of Keswick and surrounding areas; carrying out cleaning, rubbish and furniture removal as well as culvert and ditch clearing, in order to ensure water can flow away from affected properties. The team have been so proud to work with some fantastic volunteers and hope to be able to join forces again in the future.

The Serve On Community Resilience Teams from Salisbury and Portsmouth are now in a recovery phase back to Salisbury, where the team will clean up and disinfect equipment, preparing it for immediate deployment, should the need arise.

Serve On will remain alert and ready to respond to emergencies both in the UK and abroad over the Christmas period and into the New Year.

Serve On would like to thank B&Q for donating equipment and supplies for us to use in Keswick as well as Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service for their partnership and supporting the delivery of the Community Resilience Team in Salisbury.

To find out more go to www.serveon.org.uk or follow Serve On on Facebook. If you want to become part of the team and make a difference with an incredible group of people you can contact the charity via the website, social media or drop in at Salisbury Fire Station any Thursday evening from 7pm onwards.

Team Leaders from Serve On are still in Cumbria today following a team meeting with the Flood Coordination Group and the Environment Agency.
