Dr. Ahmed begins the procedure by drilling a hole in the infected tooth for access. He then takes the file and cleans out the interior of the tooth, called the pulp, and the root canal. Any decayed tissue and debris are removed. Gutta-percha, a sealant, is then placed into the empty tooth. After the procedure is complete, Dr. Ahmed places a filling on the access hole previously drilled.

Once all of the decayed tissue and inflamed nerves are gone, the tooth will begin to heal and feel much better. The pain and sensitivity once present will subside.
