Follow on Google News | Dates Announced for 60th Annual Conejo Valley DaysDates for the 60th Annual Conejo Valley Days (CVD) are now set. CVD will be held Wednesday through Sunday, May 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. The location will remain the same: Conejo Creek Park South in Thousand Oaks.
With the celebration of its 60th year, CVD is returning to a five-day format, with special events planned for Wednesday, May 11. Scheduled so far for the 2016 CVD are motocross, a teenage battle of the bands, a science pavilion, the 4th annual Outhouse Races and a home décor pavilion. Coming back in 2016 are displays by the Chumash Indian Museum, the Stagecoach Inn and Joel McCrea Ranch. CVD will again offer its Read & Ride program—where kids can read books to earn free ride tickets. “Read & Ride was a favorite last year for families,” says Mary-Catherine McBride, CVD executive director. “Depending on the ride, a little reading meant big savings.” CVD will also offer unlimited ride wristbands on several of the festival days and presale tickets. For the third year, RCS Shows will provide the carnival rides. To minimize wear and tear on the soccer fields at Conejo Creek Park South, the footprint of the festival will be rearranged so some of the larger rides will be placed in the parking lot on the west side of the park. “We’re working with the Conejo Recreation & Park District on this. The soccer fields are an important part of our community. The new configuration should work well for everyone,” says McBride. Also in the works are ways to commemorate CVD’s 60th anniversary. All ideas are welcome. Sponsorships are available. Contact CVD by calling 805-498-0624 emailing info@conejovalleydays.us, through Facebook, www.facebook.com/ End
