Follow on Google News | Carlisle Ford Nationals to Debut a Mustang American FlagHundreds of America’s Pony Car to Line Up and Display the Ultimate Symbol of America
By: Carlisle Events As noted above, the display isn’t new to Carlisle, but it’s the first-time ever during Ford weekend for such a display. Pulling it off is no small feat, and in fact requires some advanced planning. Over 150 cars spanning Mustang history are part of the display and of course the cars are red, white and blue. In addition, silver cars (the flag pole) will be included. With the display playing out on the northeast side of the grounds Friday (June 3), cars will span multiple rows and the flag specifically includes 57 red Mustangs, 51 white ones, 35 blue ones and 10 silvers to round out the flag. The white stripes signify purity and innocence and the red signify bravery and valor. Old Glory is also home to 50 stars on a blue field representing vigilance, perseverance and justice. Implementation will run between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. with the display itself in place through approximately 4 p.m. While there is a slow build to assure the flag is properly laid out, the payoff is a true salute to not only the U.S.A. itself, but to one of Ford’s most iconic cars, the Mustang. The flag display is free to anyone who has registered for the showfield, however; for an onsite additional price point of $20, a package will be available that includes a poster, shirt and time lapse DVD of the process. “Nothing is more American than America’s Pony Car, the Ford Mustang,” noted Ford Nationals Event Manager Ken Appell. “To honor this historic vehicle and the country is no small feat, but with the help of our loyal enthusiasts, we know this will end up being something very special. When I made the decision to move forward with this display, I knew it had to be big and most importantly, had to be done right,” continued Appell. “After much talk with our Carlisle Events team we knew a BIG American Flag made out of Ford Mustangs is the right way to do it. I can’t wait to see our dream become a reality and earn its place in Mustang history.” Registrations are ongoing for the flag and the event itself. Regarding the flag display, once the 153 car field is filled, it’s filled, however; some vehicles may be accepted on a standby basis in the event that someone is unable to participate.
