Basketball Intelligence newsletter passes 1000-issue milestone, converts to paid subscription model

Daily compendium of the best in NBA reporting and analysis, now in third year, expands circulation in NBA front offices, legendary retired players, pro basketball media, other influencers

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Jan. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Basketball Intelligence, http://www.basketballintelligence.net, a daily online compendium of the best in NBA reporting and analysis, has converted to a paid subscription model in its third year of publication after having published more than 1000 issues to date.

To launch the new subscription model, the company is offering the first 1000 people who subscribe a guaranteed lifetime rate of $39.99 a year, which averages out to little more than 10 cents a day. Subscribers can choose to have Basketball Intelligence delivered to them by email, or read it online. Prospective subscribers have the option of a free 15-day trial with no obligation or prepayment before deciding whether to sign up.

Basketball Intelligence is read by NBA owners, executives, coaches, current and retired players, media who cover the NBA, scouts, fantasy hoops players, and basketball fans of every persuasion, from the most casual to the most devoted.

"I go to Basketball Intelligence daily for great NBA information,” says ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla. “Along with its share of great team updates, stories and player profiles, I love the healthy emphasis on basketball analytics.  Since I can’t watch all thirty teams, Basketball Intelligence keeps me up to date on the league."

A self-professed basketball junkie himself, Basketball Intelligence founder, publisher and curator Ray LeBov saw a need for a service that would sift through the hundreds of daily posts from mainstream and online media and the blogosphere to deliver the best and most insightful NBA coverage.

“Since we launched in 2013, we’ve done the daily searching for our readers so they don’t have to,” says LeBov, who spends several hours each morning reviewing the flood of NBA-related content before deciding which articles to re-post. “Thus our readers save hours of time and effort each day to get right to the best reporting.

“Our criteria are that the piece be intelligent, informative, insightful and interesting. Pieces that meet those criteria also tend to be the best-written and credible, supported by solid research into and/or understanding of the pro game. We’re not interested in rumors, hype, junk statistics, or all the other nonsense that passes for reporting on the game.”

LeBov says a typical issue of Basketball Intelligence might include a roundup of the previous night’s games, with a focus on those that most affected the standings or produced the most unexpected results; interviews with or features about key players, coaches and front office personnel; “inside basketball” features on offensive or defensive strategies, tactics and execution, often with illustrative video clips included; and insightful observations by authorities on the game within and outside the NBA and the media that regularly cover it.

Based in Sacramento, Ray LeBov is a 41-year veteran of California state government and governmental advocacy. He is also the longtime executive director of the Association for Professional Basketball Research, and a credentialed member of the media who cover his hometown Sacramento Kings games.

“Basketball Intelligenceis the prime source of daily basketball news in the country,” says Bijan C. Bayne, author of a best-selling biography of Elgin Baylor. “It is timely, informative, and topical. Whether you are fan, content provider, coach, or admin, your day has not begun until you consult Basketball Intelligence’s feed. Get your subscription, or you'll find yourself outside the discussions that count. No one scoops hoops like BI.”

"The name pretty much sums it up: Basketball Intelligence,” adds Roland Lazenby, author of ‘Michael Jordan: The Life,’ and ‘Jerry West: The Life and Legend of a Basketball Icon.’ “You get a broad selection of the very best hoop writing served up on a platter without all the hassle of trying to find it amid the chaos of the Internet. What's not to like? I've come to consider it essential."

“We have been overwhelmed with the positive response to our publication,” says LeBov. “What started out as a labor of love is rapidly gaining traction as a must-have service in the professional basketball universe. I have no idea yet what the potential upside is for Basketball Intelligence, but I get a sense we’re really just a few minutes into the first quarter and we still have a lot of growth ahead.”
