Immediately following the bull riding is a concert featuring country music artist Jason Pritchett. Pritchett is known for putting WESTERN back in country music. He's a REAL cowboy that rode bulls for several years until he found his true passion of country music. In Jason's first week on the charts, he was the highest debuting country artist with his single "Good Show" which features the bull riders and bullfighters of the CBR. In addition, CBR offers a rare opportunity for bull riding fans to see two of the sport’s elite riders. Cody Teel, the 2015 CBR World Champion and 2015 NFR Average Champion, will be joined by the three-time World Champion Bull Rider, Sage Steele Kimzey, as they attempt to keep their top rankings in the CBR Road to Cheyenne televised bull riding tour. Last December, Kimzey and Teel left the dirt in Las Vegas holding onto first and second place for the year-end PRCA World Standings at the 2015 National Finals Rodeo (NFR) and have continued to challenge each other throughout the 2016 CBR tour. “Kimzey is a rare talent who rides basically flawless and Teel has the heart and determination of a champion every time he pulls his rope,” said Hedeman, the four-time World Champion Bull Rider who now produces the nationally televised Road to Cheyenne tour events. Cody Teel is set to defend the Bull Bash title after winning here in 2014 and 2015. If successful he would be the first rider in the event’s 27 year history to win the event three times. This event is special to Teel, his hometown of Kountze, Texas is not far and he spent many weekends here in Lufkin competing in regional contests as a youth bull rider. “I really like this style of competition,” This event will not only feature the two highly decorated World Champion bull riders, each with over $1 million in earnings, but the current No. 1 ranked rider Cody Rostockyj, who will be in town defending his position after a hot streak that has lasted since August of last year when he seized the CBR World Standings. The Lufkin Bull Bash will also give bull riding fans two opportunities to see the “other side of the ride.” CBR’s Championship Futurity Tour kicks off the bull-side of the Bash with twenty teams of two-year-old bucking bulls competing at 9 am on Saturday morning followed by the Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge being held during the bull rider portion of the Bull Bash. The bulls are competing for points based on their performance in the arena. A total of over $82,500 will be awarded to these bovine athletes and their owners while in Lufkin. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for ticket holders to enjoy the activities on the concourse including great shopping and meet and greets.
