Ambassadors and Beneficiaries Announced for Local AIDS Walk – Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 8AM

DALLAS - Jan. 26, 2016 - PRLog -- Dallas, Texas. January 26, 2016 –As the approach of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day draws near on February 7^th, AIDS Walk South Dallas (AWSD) announced that Zachary Thompson, Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) Director and Community Advocate, Ivan Nolen will serve as 2016 Walk Ambassadors for the event that will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2016 (rain or shine) at the historical Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 2922 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Dallas, TX.

The selection of Zachary Thompson, Director of DCHHS, Ivan Nolen, Community Activist and Leader exemplifies AIDS Walk South Dallas’ theme "Supporting Our Future”, said, Auntjuan Wiley, AWSD Event Chair.  “With over 18, 000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Dallas County, this is not just a walk for the cause; this is about CHANGE in our community”, said Auntjuan Wiley, AWSD Event Chair , who has already begun working around the clock in an effort to gain exposure and excitement about this remarkable opportunity once again.

In our 6^th year, we continue to bring awareness of HIV/AIDS and raise funds to support local organizations that offer services to those affected by this disease. Funds raised will benefit the programs and services of AIDS Walk South Dallas, Inc. (https://www.facebook.com/AIDSWalkSouthDallasInc/) and The Afiya Center whose mission is to end reproductive oppression among marginalized black women and girls through re-education and engendering empowerment of sexual and reproductive health disparities including HIV.
