LOS ANGELES - Jan. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Addison Riecke, the young actress best known as Nora Thunderman on Nickelodeon’s “The Thunderman’s”, has joined forces with Write Brain Gives, a charity focused on providing empowering educational experiences to underprivileged, at-risk youth around the nation.

Addison and Write Brain Gives have teamed up with Happy Snapps, a fundraising company focused on youth and family markets, to launch a six-week campaign focused on raising $10,000 in order to implement the Write Brain Gives experience within the Peace4Kids foster outreach program in Southern Los Angeles.  The fundraising campaign, focused on families and youth, allows supporters to make incremental donations at happysnapps.com to help reach various fundraising goals.  Along the way, supporters will have the opportunity to receive gifts and / or interactive experiences with Addison and Write Brain Gives, culminating with one lucky supporter being selected to accompany Addison to launch the Write Brain Gives program with the Peace4Kids children.

“Addison may play a super hero on television, but it’s the real-life super hero in her that amazes us the most,” states Ruth Stalford of Write Brain Gives.  “This young girl’s passion for improving the world around her is so admirable, especially at her young age.  And the amount of time she spent selecting and vetting our charity goes to demonstrate the seriousness of her intentions.”

This isn’t the first time in her young career that Addison Riecke has stepped up to help others with her celebrity power.  She’s been involved with various charities in the past focused on issues surrounding her audience such as anti-bullying, animal rights and now education.  “When I first heard that 61% of children in low-income families in Southern Los Angeles don’t have access to books, it saddened me,” shares Addison.  “Children need creative outlets for learning, especially when it comes to developing strong self-worth and vital literacy skills.  I couldn’t imagine a world without books and storytelling, so when I learned about Write Brain Gives and their mission to empower young people with literacy building skills and a creative outlet, I knew I wanted to get involved.”

Write Brain Gives is the charitable arm of Write Brain Books, an organization focused on closing the achievement gap using self-expression and inventive storytelling as demonstrated through the eyes of underserved children.  Write Brain Gives’ mission is to provide the Write Brain Books “disguised learning” program to 1,000’s of vulnerable children and youth across the United States with a focus on programs that support foster care youth.  The Write Brain authoring curriculum encourages children to take on the meaningful responsibility of authoring and publishing a children’s book.  As they become deeply involved in the writing process, they develop their own voice as they give voice to the characters they create. They learn to collaborate with peers and express themselves in ways that are relevant to their lives all while building critical thinking and those critical 21st Century skills required to succeed in today’s competitive environment.
