Presidential Candidate Dr. Robert Ornelas Speaking and Performing at South Park Peace Ride

LOS ANGELES - Feb. 24, 2016 - PRLog -- Presidential hopeful Dr. Robert Ornelas will be speaking and performing at South Park on Sunday February 28th. Ornelas a member of gospel Hip Hop group The S.O.G. Crew (Thump Records/ Universal Music Group) will be sharing with community while working with United in Peace Foundation in hopes of reducing crime and violence.

South Park is a 1.41-square-mile. low-income neighborhood in South Los Angeles, California. It is notable for its dense concentration of residents, their youthful age range, their high ratio of single parents, their low rate of marriage and their low median household income. South Park is third on the list of Los Angeles city neighborhoods where adults over age 25 failed to finish high school.

"It has been an honor to work with United in Peace Foundation throughout Los Angeles area. They have taken us on a tour through most of the housing projects introducing us to community and gang representatives. We witnessed peaceful gatherings in accordance to the first amendment of our United States Constitution leading to community prayer at each location supervised by community leaders along with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. This program opened my eyes to the issues of gang violence at a new level giving me the confirmation to research the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In the past have teamed up with law enforcement agencies, local officials and community leaders to help empower the young people by encouraging them to be active in the community.

United In Peace opened doors to new programs that I have been involved in of late. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti's Summer Night Lights last summer 2015 was an Amazing experience. Gang crime dropped in the 32 areas where the city operated last summer thanks to the LA Mayor. Garcetti also helped raise $1 million to extend the program," added Ornelas

UNITED IN PEACE is a growing multi-ethnic, multi-faith popular movement that is successfully uniting the diverse peoples of Los Angeles County to work together in bringing peace to inner cities.

The goal is to reduce the negative of violence in communities by concentrating more of our peoples’ attention and energy on creating the positive of peace.

Law enforcement and government leaders have now recognized and acknowledged reductions in violence and crime rates in neighborhoods touched by the Peace Rides.
