By: Princeton Dog Training Club “Bunny” “Bunny is an amazing dog,” Regina said recently, “and I am very lucky to have her as my partner. It has long been my dream to earn the OTCh and Obedience Victrix titles on a German Shepherd. Bunny finished both titles at the same trial! She's a special dog and I hope we have many more years together." Regina has been leading dog training classes at the PDTC’s Griggstown Firehouse location for the past eight years; providing training from Beginner to Utility (advanced) Obedience for both pet and competition trainers and their dogs ABOUT THE OTCH The OTCH title is the culmination of many hours of training and years of competing and is the highest honor attainable in the American Kennel Club (AKC)’s program. . The dog and handler become a remarkable team working together to perfect the movements and commands while defeating a large number of other dog/handler teams in competition. Bunny and Regina had to earn a total of 100 points, based on a rating scale distributed by the AKC. The points can only be earned by competing in either an Open B or a Utility B class. In addition, points are only awarded to dogs that place in the top four in each class and the amount of points awarded varies depending on the size of the class. For example, a team that placed first out of 15 may only earn 4 OTCh points but a team that places first out of 50 may earn as much as 40 points. In addition to the points a team must win 3 first place awards - one in an Open B class, one in a Utility B class, and an additional first place win in either Open B or Utility B, all under different judges.
