Follow on Google News | Fourth Annual Grafton Winter Carnival Promises a Big Dose of WinterSkiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, and more winter fun planned for February 20
By: The Grafton Inn The Carnival starts at 9 a.m. with Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking on the 15km trail system at Grafton Ponds, a third of which has snowmaking. Throughout the day, ice skating will be available on the pond (depending on the weather) and starting at noon, a roaring bonfire and s’mores will light up the rest of the day. All of these activities are included in the $15 Carnival ticket, available at the gate. During the Carnival, horse-drawn sleigh rides will be available from noon to 3:30 p.m. for $20 for adults and $12 for children. The Grafton Inn’s Pizza Truck will serve up hot pies with Grafton cheese, pepperoni or veggies from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Skis, snowshoes and fat bikes are available to rent for $12 each. Following the festivities at Grafton Ponds, the Grafton Inn will host its popular Ice Bar event, starting at 4 p.m. Vermont libations from Harpoon Brewery, Whistlepig Whiskey, and Vermont Distillers are on tap until 9 p.m. on February 20. Tickets are $25 and include admission, two drink tickets and a souvenir glass. Phelps Barn Tavern, adjacent to the Ice Bar, will play host to live music starting at 8 p.m. For those who’d like to stay for the whole Carnival weekend, the Grafton Inn offers a Winter Carnival package that includes two nights' lodging, two tickets to the Ice Bar, dinner both nights, and breakfast both mornings for two people.
