Follow on Google News | Kent State University Executive MBA Student Announced Scholar of the MonthBy: Kent State College of Business Administration “Dr. Oglesby is absolutely brilliant,” said Laurie Walker, program director of the Executive MBA program at Kent State’s College of Business Administration. “The Executive MBA program is honored to be represented by such a prestigious student and professor.” Oglesby came to Kent State in 2009 from the University of South Carolina where he served in several research and administrative roles in the School of Public Health and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Health Sciences. He is a practice-based scholar who uses community-engaged research methodologies to examine and strengthen the systems, methods and policies that promote community health. His research and expertise includes community health needs and assets measurement, sexuality and reproductive health, and economic evaluation of health interventions with recent work focused on lifestyle medicine and substance abuse. Oglesby has worked on a career total of more than $26 million in externally funded projects, including more than $7 million as principal or co-principal investigator. He is a reviewer for several leading academic journals in public health and medicine, including serving as executive editor of the Global Journal of Medicine and Public Health. He is a former policy consultant to the National Academies of Practice and is currently a member of the Lifestyle Medicine Committees for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the American College of Preventive Medicine. In 2010, he was named Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Oglesby received all three of his degrees – a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science in Public Health and a Ph.D. – from the University of South Carolina. Kent State’s Scholar of the Month recognizes faculty researchers and scholars whose recent work has had an important impact on their professional fields and has brought exposure to the university.
