Australian Fake ID Website Using Loophole in Law to Operate

MELBOURNE, Australia - Feb. 18, 2016 - PRLog -- An Australian website that boasts it has "hundreds of happy customers" has used a loophole in the law to create and sell Fake ID Cards from its base in Melbourne, Australia. The Company, Fakies Australia (accessible at www.fakies.com.au) has been in operation since 2007.

It was reported in 2013 that police were investigating the website but it is understood that all charges have been dropped.

There are other spam websites available which claim to offer fake drivers licenses - most of these are run from China and do not send out anything - they take your money and run. However, Fakies Australia offering Novelty Cards which are completely legal to both buy and sell and usually feature a hologram and other real looking features. When you buy a Novelty Card from one of these websites you must usually abide by their requirements including that you will not attempt to use the card in any fraudulent or deceiving manner.

Worldwide there are hundreds of these sites offering to supply all sorts of cards - varying from novelty student cards to fake passports. Most did not respond to us for comment.

This reporter ordered a card from Fakies Australia and without any sort of verification was prompted to the order page. From there we clicked the Age Proof Card and typed in a bogus name, surname, address and date of birth that we wanted printed on the card. We were then greeted with the shipping  page - where we just put a PO box that wanted our card to be sent to. After that we had an "upload photo" button and we put up a picture of the former Prime Minister Tony Abbott. 4 days later we received the card sent to our PO BOX.

Upon closer inspection the card wasn't an exact replica as the official Australian Drivers Licenses - the hologram was slightly different, there were a few word changes on the back of the card. Apart from that, it felt like the real thing and would probably fool an unsuspecting victim.

We paid $60 including postage for the card from http://www.fakies.com.au and were not asked any questions at all when we ordered.
