Kent State College of Business Administration’s Fraternity Semi-Finals Winner of Ethics Award

KENT, Ohio - Feb. 19, 2016 - PRLog -- Kent State University won the first round of the Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) Ethics Award sponsored by Grant Thornton LLP.  BAP has been awarded $1,000 to implement their Ethics project and will be evaluated in finals at the Beta Alpha Psi national meeting this summer with the opportunity to be one of four projects to win an additional $2,500.

The theme of the project is Choose Your Own Ethical Adventure. Participants will face a series of ethical dilemmas where the choices they make determine their outcome. This special program will be delivered on Wednesday, March 16 and is open to all business majors.

“We are honored that we were selected for this award and look forward to delivering an engaging program,” said Malinda Malbasa, advisor for the Kent State Beta Alpha Psi chapter.  “BAP will use the funds awarded to prepare and deliver a creative program designed by the officers, focusing on ethics in business.”

The Ethics Award seeks to encourage the members of Beta Alpha Psi and their communities to develop a solid ethical foundation and to empower them to act on these principles no matter the situation faced. Grant Thornton sponsors the award with up to $20,000 awarded annually.

“This award exemplifies the dedication put forth by Beta Alpha Psi,” said Linda Zucca, Ph.D., CPA, department chair for accounting at the Kent State College of Business Administration. “The Accounting Department is proud to be represented by such an outstanding group of students.”

Beta Alpha Psi is a national scholastic and professional fraternity for students and professionals in accounting, finance and management and information systems. The organization provides students with a range of opportunities to interact and connect with current and future professionals to help them obtain a job. Students must meet specific academic and service requirements to become a member of the award-winning chapter.
