AMD Expands Its Support of Veterans Administration Healthcare Initiatives

MIRAMAR, Fla. - Feb. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- American Medical Depot (AMD) is proud to announce its award as a Prime Vendor for the distribution of medical and surgical supplies, equipment and related services for the Veterans Administration (VA) under the Next Generation Medical Surgical Prime Vendor Contract (MSPV-NG).  The award has an estimated value of $1.2 billion over five years and covers approximately 60 hospitals east of the Mississippi River from New England to Florida and Puerto Rico, defined as Geographical Areas* (GAs) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 21.  This new opportunity is in addition to AMD's current contract providing medical supplies, equipment and services to the VA hospitals in Florida and South Georgia.

The Next Generation Program was created to increase the Veteran Administration's ability to deliver timely health care to the nation's Veterans. The program also addresses the VA's commitment to supply chain modernization. "We made a commitment to the Veterans who served our nation and the American public to change the way VA operates," said VA Secretary Robert A. McDonald. "To accomplish this, we had to look at our processes - from the way we deliver care - to the way we order the products that provide care. This Next Generation program improves the acquisition process of surgical supplies, and ensures a speedier delivery to Veterans.  It is one of many efforts underway to transform our supply chain to provide the service our Veterans deserve and potential cost savings to American taxpayers."
