Resorts Travel Club Recommends a Summer Vacation to Arizona

It’s hot, no doubt about it, but here are some reasons Resorts Travel Club recommends a summer vacation to the Phoenix area.

LOS ANGELES - March 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Jerome – For those seeking a cool town to explore, head north out of Phoenix and explore the winding main street of Jerome. Galleries, restaurants, and saloons are run by a colorful group of locals. The “world’s largest kaleidoscope store” is a must see as the Nellie Bly Art Glass store is stocked full. Satisfy your sweet tooth with some fudge from Copper Country Fudge and enjoy the splendid views and entertaining community of this mountaintop town.

Weather – But it’s a dry heat! Yes, the humidity doesn’t make the hot summer feel quite as bad as it could be, but it’s still hot. That’s why when monsoon season arrives, everyone rejoices. The winds come in, the clouds gather, and the rains come. The lightning shows are fantastic and the almost-daily relief from the heat is wonderful.

Tucson – Only about 90 minutes outside of Phoenix, Tucson is home to several hidden gems. Local street art and murals fill the streets near the warehouse district. Live music plays at the Rialto Theatre, view Mexican folk art on Broadway Road, and enjoy some of the best Mexican food north of the border. Make sure to sneak a peek at the Hotel Congress, where the tile, fixtures, and décor are simply stunning.

Chase Field’s Roof – Baseball fans celebrate under the 9 million pound retractable steel roof that stretches over the field where the Diamondbacks play. The stadium is the cool place to watch baseball, as on most 100+ degree days, the roof is closed and the air conditioning is blasting.

Greer – The little town of Greer is perfect for a getaway from the crowds. Located in the White Mountains just a few miles north of Pinetop, this place is all about nature. Greer is home to hidden campgrounds, quiet lakes, and trails ready to be explored. There’s a touch of civilization too with some restaurants and activities like horseback riding.

Salt River Tubing – This is a very popular thing to do in the summer in Phoenix. Not just college kids enjoy the tubing adventure with their floating coolers, this is a fun adventure for all adults. The park opens at 9am on the weekdays, and getting there early will allow you time to view the natural landscape of the park.
