CARLISLE, Pa. - March 17, 2016 - PRLog -- For years, Carlisle Events and Carlisle Auctions have worked to raise money for charity as part of its annual events and 2016 is no different.  This year's Carlisle Auctions offering at Spring Carlisle will see the auction team partner with Brian McClure, a central Pennsylvania local in support of his Barkin' for Parkinson's Trail Hike.  The auction takes place April 21-22 at the Carlisle Expo Center, while the trail hike commences approximately three weeks earlier on the historic Appalachian Trail.

McClure, who himself is battling daily with symptoms of Young Onsets Parkinson's disease, will join supporters of his cause for a hike that will start at the Pennsylvania/New Jersey boarder.  From the beginning of April until the spring auction dates, McClure will traverse the Keystone State, some 186 miles, raising money along the way.  Once at Carlisle, a car donated by William H. Wessels Used Cars of nearby Dillsburg, PA will cross the block.  When the final bids are in, 100% of the proceeds will benefit Susquehanna Service Dogs and their Balance Dog Program.

Why the hike in the first place?  As mentioned above, McClure is afflicted by Young Onsets Parkinson's disease.  This disease has no cure and affects approximately 1 million people, with at least 2% being diagnosed before the age of 50 and another 2% learning of the affliction before the age of 40.  Young Onsets poses its own unique challenges to young adults who may still be raising families, are productive in the workplace and enjoy an active lifestyle.

In addition to the involvement by Wessels, Lancaster Brewing Company of Lancaster, PA will brew a special beer in advance of the auction and McClure's gear and needed trail support is being donated for the hike by BackcountryEdge.com.

Mohammed Ali once said, "he who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life," noted McClure.  "I'm just a regular every day guy who happens to be afflicted with something that even a great like Ali can't defeat.  But, we'll both keep fighting and with the help of great folks like those at Carlisle Events, Carlisle Auctions, William H. Wessels, Lancaster Brewing Company, BackcountryEdge.com, Susquehanna Service Dogs and others, we'll do our part to raise awareness and funds to one day overcome all aspects of Parkinson's."

Complete details about the hike can be found on Brian's page, http://www.spillinbeerwithbrian.com/barkin-for-parkinsons-trail-hike-16/.  While there, find details about donating to Susquehanna Service Dogs, Carlisle Auctions and more.
