Follow on Google News | Barkin' for Parkinson's Trail Hike Planned in 2016Benefit Scheduled to Take Place in Conjunction with Spring Carlisle and its Auction
By: Michael E Garland Jr McClure, who himself is battling daily with symptoms of Young Onsets Parkinson's disease, will join supporters of his cause for a hike that will start at the Pennsylvania/ Why the hike in the first place? As mentioned above, McClure is afflicted by Young Onsets Parkinson's disease. This disease has no cure and affects approximately 1 million people, with at least 2% being diagnosed before the age of 50 and another 2% learning of the affliction before the age of 40. Young Onsets poses its own unique challenges to young adults who may still be raising families, are productive in the workplace and enjoy an active lifestyle. In addition to the involvement by Wessels, Lancaster Brewing Company of Lancaster, PA will brew a special beer in advance of the auction and McClure's gear and needed trail support is being donated for the hike by BackcountryEdge.com. Mohammed Ali once said, "he who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life," noted McClure. "I'm just a regular every day guy who happens to be afflicted with something that even a great like Ali can't defeat. But, we'll both keep fighting and with the help of great folks like those at Carlisle Events, Carlisle Auctions, William H. Wessels, Lancaster Brewing Company, BackcountryEdge.com, Susquehanna Service Dogs and others, we'll do our part to raise awareness and funds to one day overcome all aspects of Parkinson's."
