New Austin Healey Steering Idler Boxes

March 22, 2016 - PRLog -- Supplies of the original castings are now becoming increasingly difficult to find as used examples become worn. Many Austin Healey enthusiasts demand accurate steering geometry for road or competition use and have become increasingly frustrated at the supply situation with alternative products simply not accurately manufactured to a sufficient quality.

In response to this customer demand and race experience, Denis Welch Motorsport have taken original factory drawings and CAD designed replacement casings to exact dimensions and tolerances as originally specified. The result is an extremely high quality end product that thanks to advances in manufacturing and machining is better than the original part. Unlike competitor products, these are made from new drawings and not copied repeatedly from a 50 year old part. This approach avoids copying the same mistakes time and again as well as eliminating tolerance creep which is inevitable when producing facsimile parts.

Thanks to modern design methods and digital pre-assembly proofing, they will fit exactly like the original part so won't be a pain to fit. The steering idler boxes are made from high quality heat treated aluminium castings and will perform at their best for years to come and have been proven in the most demanding race situations. With complete steering boxes also available in high or low ratio, LHD and RHD, Denis Welch Motorsport can provide all the parts to rejuvenate the steering for all BN2-BJ8 Big Healey owners.
