By: Progressive National Baptist Convention PNBC President Dr. James C. Perkins will participate in this gathering along with Pastor Ezra Tillman of First Trinity Baptist Church, 1226 Beach Street, Flint, Michigan 48502. The activities will begin at 11:30 AM in the church with a brief ceremony and participants will march to Flint City Hall at noon. Dr. Perkins will hold prayer and call for the resignation of Governor Rick Snyder. Other denominational representatives are also expected to make statements during the event. These efforts are of particular importance to Dr. Perkins, who is a resident of neighboring Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Perkins states, "We are being failed by the government systems that were put in place to protect us. The poisoning from contaminated water of children and families in Flint, Michigan is proof. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder must be made accountable for his horrific actions of committing atrocities against the people of Flint and failing the teachers and students in the Detroit Public Schools system." The call to action for the event is as follows: 1. Ask Governor Rick Snyder to resign. 2. Encourage people to write letters and demand that Governor Snyder resign. 3. Request that people sign the recall petition against Governor Snyder. 4. Assist people in becoming registered to vote and ask them to ensure that their friends and family are registered to vote. 5. Inform the residents of Flint that churches around the state support them and will continue to send water and supplies long term.
