Follow on Google News | Applications for 4th Annual Conejo Valley Days Outhouse Races Now AvailableApplications are now available for the 4th Annual Conejo Valley Days (CVD) Outhouse Races. The races will take place Sunday, May 15 at CVD Thousand Oaks.
Participants are encouraged to be creative. Previous years saw such entries as "Party Pooper," "Ye Olde John" and "Poop Coupe.'" The racecourse distance is about 200 feet on grass. Racing outhouses are built on wheels. Specific rules for outhouse building and racing are found on the CVD website along with an entry form. The entry fee is $50. "Competition can get pretty intense, but in the end it's all about having fun," says Chris dePalma, outhouse race chairperson. "Cal-State Site Services is the perfect sponsor for the races. They provide temporary fences, barricades and, of course, outhouses for special events." "We love Conejo Valley Days and have been attending and providing services for many years," says Eric Giffin, Cal-State Site Services general manager. "Kelly Kimes, our events director, has become a big part of the 'behind the scenes' action by coordinating installation, set up, services and break down. Cal-State Site Services can't think of a better hometown race to sponsor. We will be unveiling our own top secret racer soon." The deadline to enter is Tuesday, May 10. Outhouses must be delivered to the CVD site between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on that day. Each outhouse entry must have its name displayed on the exterior. To participate, someone is required to sit in the outhouse while two others push the outhouse down the course. Trophies are awarded to first, second and third place winners.
