Akademia Names "I Heart Reggae" Album by Kaisha Number 1

TORONTO - April 6, 2016 - PRLog -- Singer, songwriter and performer Kaisha Lee has won the Best Album award in the Reggae category at Akademia (http://www.theakademia.com/march2016_bestalbum_reggae4.html) with "I Heart Reggae." It was voted best album for March 2016 at Akademia.

Winners of the prestigious award are selected by an expert panel of six judges comprised of former senior executives and industry veterans from some of the largest record companies in the world. The international award recognizes excellence and comes with select performance and licensing opportunities. Akademia examines original compositions in 25 categories and 5 submission types.

Kaisha (http://kaishalee.ca/) is no stranger to worldwide performances and recognition. She performed at the inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama, toured extensively throughout Canada, the U.S. and France with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale, and received a Gemini Award as part of the Sharon Riley and Faith Chorale. She's performed in Jamaica and Britain, collaborating with other UK artists there.

The soulful singer began honing her musical talents at the age of six by playing the piano and at the age of 15 she began nurturing her extensive vocal abilities by participating in gospel choirs. She gravitated to reggae and R&B with songs that spoke about love, life's losses and a message of inspiration that resonated with fans around the globe. She also taught vocal and piano theory for a time.

She embarked on a solo career in the summer of 2009, releasing a number of singles featuring traditional Caribbean favorites and dancehall tracks. "I Heart Reggae" marked Kaisha's return to the full album format. With a rich, powerful voice, stunning looks, and natural showmanship, Kaisha has made a distinct impact on the music world.
