PRLog -- OrecX, the world leader of open source call recording applications for call centers, enterprises and communication service providers (and the highest ranked call recording vendor on the Inc. 5000), today announced it is now Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Level 2 security compliant, the first call recording software to achieve this level of web application security. In the process, Oreka TR (Total Recording) software was penetration tested by a third party, using both automated penetration test suites, as well as manually tested by a skilled security hacker.
"As cloud applications continue to become more and more ubiquitous, so do the threats to web-based software," said Bruno Haas, OrecX Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer. "Recognizing that many of our clients are now employing our call recording software as a SaaS application, we knew it was imperative for OrecX to continue leading the call recording industry in the area of web application security."
OrecX VoIP and Unified Communication Service Providers and their clients are particularly sensitive to application security, especially as it relates to Financial (PCI) and Healthcare (HIPAA) compliance.
"OWASP Level 2 ensures that evaluated security controls are in place, effective and used as needed within the application to enforce application-
specific policies. Level 2 represents an industry standard for which the majority of an organization's sensitive applications would strive. Level 2 is typically appropriate for applications that handle significant business-to-
business transactions, including those that process healthcare information, implement business-critical or sensitive functions, or process other sensitive assets" (OWASP Application Security Verification Standard 2014).
