Follow on Google News | Sparkle Beauty House goes green with innovative salon recycling program"As soon as I heard about the Green Circle Salon program, I knew we had to take part. We strongly feel that it is an extension of the vision of our salon, where we genuinely care about clients and provide the best service possible. We can now meet this objective by caring for the world that we and our clients live in" says Jeff Evans, Vice-President of Sparkle Beauty House. Until now, Evans says, there has been no recycling program in place that encompasses all of the specific salon chemicals and hair clippings that come off the cutting room floor. The new Green Circle program now in place at Sparkle Beauty House means that the hair clippings will be going to aid in oil spill cleanup in the event of a West Coast spill. The clippings will be made into oil booms (nylon tubes filled with hair) known to be highly effective in oil spill clean up. The foils, color tubes, plastics, excess chemicals and paper will be separated in-salon and collected by GreenCircle Salons, a Toronto-based company on a mission to make the Canadian salon industry sustainable by 2020. Green Circle launched their operations North America wide this year. "We know in Vancouver, the city and its residents have a green mindset. We work hard to make our clients look gorgeous. Now, our clients can also feel good knowing their visit will have a minimal impact on the environment."
