Follow on Google News | GeoComm Implements Statewide NG9-1-1 GIS Dataset for the State of South DakotaBy: GeoComm Throughout the last year and a half GeoComm has implemented many solutions and services to complete the system. These items included: • NG9-1-1 GIS Implementation: • GIS Data Analysis Services: Locally- • GIS Data Development Services: A wireless cell sector layer was developed based on the wireless carrier routing sheet provided to GeoComm from the State of South Dakota. • GIS Data Coalescing Services: After the GIS data was developed and remediated, automated procedures were implemented to assimilate the various diverse GIS datasets into a seamless, state-wide GIS dataset. • QA/QC Services: A formal QA/QC plan was developed to document the overall approach to quality control, including regular communication of QC results to local GIS entities. • GeoLynx Server Web DMS, GIS Change Requests, and GIS Portal: This public safety GIS data management system was implemented for use in the state's overall GIS data maintenance workflow. This software enables authorized users throughout the state to contribute online any validated changes to the statewide dataset. • GeoLynx DMS Discrepancy Viewer: This GIS data management software is used to ensure data consistency offering a tool to local entities for interacting with GIS error reports directly inside the GIS system used by most local authorities. GeoComm will now begin NG9-1-1 GIS Managed Services, an on-going GIS maintenance service, for the state of South Dakota which will: • Ensure on-going daily updates from locally authoritative sources are processed into the statewide GIS dataset. • Ensure critical GIS updates are provisioned to core NG9-1-1 call routing and location validation systems. • Continuous performance measurements and monitoring of the statewide 9-1-1 GIS dataset is provided. "It was a big undertaking to get to the point of a having a statewide GIS dataset that could be used for call routing in NG9-1-1; however, we knew we could get there with GeoComm through a collaborative and coordinated effort," stated Shawnie Rechtenbaugh, State 9-1-1 Coordinator with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. "In addition to the essential public safety role this GIS dataset plays, local and state offices will also benefit from having a single, seamless, gapless GIS dataset." This project, which was completed in March 2016, provided the State of South Dakota with a long term professional managed and operated NG9-1-1 GIS solution.
