CARLISLE, Pa. - April 25, 2016 - PRLog -- Spring Carlisle has been producing a successful event since its inception in 1977, and the 2016 offering was no different. The infamous automotive swap meet was once again sold out, all 8,100 spaces!  On top of that, the car corral and the Spring Carlisle Auction presented by Carlisle Auctions were also back this year, but there were a few new components to the event as well.  An informative metal fabrication seminar ran all weekend free of charge to guests and Carlisle Events also welcomed a TV crew to the grounds (more on that below).  Spring Carlisle 2016 saw an impressive turnout at the gates, with guests coming from around the world.

Gates opened bright and early on Wednesday, with the crowds steadily picking up into the afternoon. Thursday's turnout was even more impressive, with the beautiful weather surely enticing the guests. Thursday was also the first day of the two day collector car auction.  Between the auction and the buzz onsite, Spring Carlisle became the automotive paradise that enthusiasts know it to be.

Friday was no different, with even more foot traffic than the two previous days. The afternoon and evening were busy at the neighboring Carlisle Expo Center where the auction was taking place.  With over 400 consignments crossing the block, the auction team saw a 60% sell rate for a total of $4.1 million in sales. The top five consignments brought in nearly $400,000 with the number one seller being a 1958 Corvette.  Carlisle Auctions also played host to a pair of fundraisers, one for the Susquehanna Service Dogs and the other for the Salvation Army.  For Susquehanna Service Dogs, a Toyota Land Cruiser donated by William H. Wessels Used Cars of Dillsburg was auctioned off, while a Chevy Malibu donated by a private individual benefited the Salvation Army.  Even after the Land Cruiser was sold, multiple auction patrons donated money to the group that raises and trains service dogs to support individuals with disabilities to live more independent lives in the community.

Spring Carlisle also served as home base to a TV crew all weekend, as Discovery's Velocity Channel filmed a pilot episode for a new show called "Swappers" (current working title).  The episode followed two teams around the swap meet, a group of "master builders" known as Team Atlanta and a team of locals, Team Carlisle.  Each team found parts and placed them into the body of a golf cart to create somewhat of a Frankenstein automobile. The two crews openly worked on their builds throughout the weekend as passersby watched in awe. The two separate builds then competed in a burnout contest on Saturday afternoon in front of a jam packed crowd of Spring Carlisle guests.  When the smoke cleared, literally, Team Carlisle came out victorious.

As Spring Carlisle wrapped on Sunday, many vendors and guests made plans for either Fall Carlisle or the Spring 2017 weekend.  Fall Carlisle begins September 28, while next year's spring show is April 19-23.  Carlisle Events still has many shows to promote this summer and thousands more guests to entertain.  Details on any of the upcoming events can be found online at www.CarlisleEvents.com or by calling 717-243-7855.
