The 13.2km Les Ferres/Roquestron special, saw the last battles in the 2016 Tour. The Ford GT 40 of Smith/Cottingham made it a clean sweep with a third stage win of the day, 15 seconds in front of Lajournade/Bouchet, eventually finishing out of the top 6 overall. His main rival, Caron in his Shelby Cobra, gave away 1m 23sec in the final stage taking the total difference to 3m 05s, sealing victory for the Parisian driver. On winning Lajournade said "We were leaders from day one, but it was not straightforward. We had breakdowns that could cause us to lose the race but each time we were able to overcome the problem. We had a fantastic race in the eyes of everyone and received many congratulations." Denis Welch Motorsport were pivotal to the success of the Jaguar in winning the Tour Auto. They not only sourced the original donor car but also had the privilege of supplying the running gear including the legendary XK engine, axle, gearbox and brakes, all of which take a great deal of punishment during the 5 day event through France.
