PHOENIX, Ore. - May 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Rare and Ancient 1,500 year old sustainable harvested Olive wood from the Holy Land, is being brought to life, singing once more, as stunning King David Lyres, designed and crafted by a decendent of King David, of the ancestral family, De Nasi (meaning Prince and referring to decent from David). Glenn Yosef Hill`s maternal family ancestors who escaped the inquisition in Spain to settle in Venice Italy in the 1400`s, were regarded as descendents of the House of David.

The Kinnor King David type of Lyre

This type of harp, or more properly Lyre,  was played in the time of King David and in Israel's First & Second Temples periods. Its structure and basic design is known from ancient coins, Biblical descriptions and from Talmudic information. The Kinnor is built in the style of a Lyre, with a double upright neck support for the horizontal neck. This is a ancient traditional Jewish musical instrument, nowadays with it`s playing being renewed in Shabbat services among some Jewish communities around the world. This style of King David Lyre is also used in Christian Davidic services and communities.

Some scholars have decided, and many agree based on the oral and written traditions,  that these ancient Kinnors,  Davidic Lyres were usually tuned with two different note ranges, from middle C up to E, or from A below middle C, up to A. and with different half step tunings, within this type of note range.

The strings on these Custom Kinnors are nylon as the standard, or gut strings can be used. Custom models with Bronze strings can also be designed and created. Precious metal strings of gold or silver, are also possible. The tone is superb, with standard harp string tensions and spacing used, for full ease of playing, with a full and rich sound. the tops of these Lyr`s are made from high elevation Engelman Violin quality Spruce, air-dried for 45 years, for the very best possible musical tone.

These  King David Kinnors, and  Davidic Lyres can be built from a number of wood choices, including Myrtle wood, which is the same tree as the Biblical Laurel  tree.  But the finest wood to build these King David Davidic Lyres from, is Ancient  Olive wood from Israel. The wood comes from Ancient trees, that have had a major branch or partial trunk die back, and to reinvigorate the trees to new growth, the dead trunk sections are cut and dried to form this amazingly beautiful wood.  As well as the double necked Lyre style, it is also possible  to build a small 22 string harp shaped Nevels from Jerusalem Olive wood, depending on the sizes of Olive wood that is available at any given time.

On each King David Lyre made form this wood, a bit of bark is left, that has been exposed to the Holy air of Jerusalem, for 1,000 to 1,500 years, to act as a connection directly to Israel.

The wood source in Israel can provide ancient 1,500 to 1,000 year old olive wood from Jerusalem or Bethlehem, with varigated golden honey brown and silver color tones,  as well as from other locations, such as Jerico in the Holy Land. Each diffrent region`s Olive wood has diffrent colors and type of figure in the wood.

Custom carving in raised relief of Stars of David, The Temple Menorah , a Dove in flight with olive branches, or and other Christian or Jewish imagery, as well as any inscription in Hebrew or English can be custom designed and carved. Gold leaf work, inlays of gemstones,  and painted designs are also created custom to order.
