Kent State University College of Business Students Awarded for Leadership Excellence

KENT, Ohio - May 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Six Kent State University College of Business Administration students were awarded for their leadership contributions to the university at the 38th Annual Center of Student Involvement (CSI) Student Leadership and Honors Award Ceremony on April 13 at the Kent State Student Center.

This event celebrated and recognized student leaders, organizations and advisors for their contributions to the university during the 2015-2016 academic year. Along with the award ceremony, the 2016-2017 elected directors and senators of the Undergraduate Student Government took the Oath of Office and the newly elected executive director, Sam Graska, delivered his inaugural address.

"The College of Business Administration is pleased to see business students taking leadership positions within con-campus organizations," said Dean Deborah F. Spake. "The experience students gain from student organizations provides beneficial leadership and communication skills needed to be successful in their career."

Leadership Excellence Award winners were Marisa Stephens, junior managerial marketing  major and Ariella Yager, junior entrepreneurship and marketing major.

"I was so honored to receive the Leadership Excellence Award," said Yager. "I value my Kent State experience and it feels great knowing my leadership and hard work is being recognized by campus administrators."

The Erick Rackham Award, presented to a senior who displays good scholarship and is greatly interested in the university, was awarded to PJ Kimmel, senior finance major.

Winners of the Student Leaders of the Year Award, given to no more than nine students who are nominated by their peers or advisors, were Terry Hugo, senior business major, and Marisa Stephens, junior managerial marketing major.

Finally, the KSUAA Distinguished Student Leader Award, given to student leaders who demonstrate outstanding campus leadership during their undergraduate career, was awarded to Haruka Takabayashi, senior marketing major.
