Under his tenure he has increased membership, expanded the role of the chapter in the community and on campus, and set personal examples of generosity toward fundraising for the chapter's annual scholarship. He also represents the chapter on the advisory board of the Gianneschi Center for Nonprofit Research, thereby strengthening the chapter's affiliations with emerging and experienced nonprofit professionals and the campus. We have been so fortunate to have him at the helm these three years, and look forward to a smooth succession plan thanks to his cultivation of new leaders". The CSUF Alumni Association's first official chapter, the Nonprofit Professional Alumni Chapter was formed in 1999 by a group of professionals from local nonprofit organizations. Their common goals were to form a professional development network for alumni, and to encourage CSUF students to prepare for and seek out careers in nonprofit and service fields. In addition to their efforts to reconnect with the University and its academic programs, the alumni established an annual $1,000 competitive award presented to a continuing or graduating student who seeks a career in the nonprofit sector. The chapter annually hosts professional development mixers for members, students, alumni, and nonprofit leaders; and cosponsors the Gianneschi Summer School for Nonprofits and CSUF's Community Engagement Awards.
