RFP to Redevelop Former Star-Kist/Del Monte Foods Cannery on Terminal Island

LOS ANGELES - May 19, 2016 - PRLog -- The City of Los Angeles Harbor Department (Harbor Department) invites the submittal of proposals from qualified entities for the redevelopment of the former Star-Kist/Del Monte Foods tuna cannery in the historic Fish Harbor area of Terminal Island. Proposals are expected to encompass a creative and adaptive water-dependent reuse of the existing historic site. Proposers should submit projects and improvements that will complement and maintain the existing historic structures while creating a sustainable commercial or industrial development.

The Harbor Department has issued the RFP to seek development or installation of uses that will complement the Harbor Department's vision for the Fish Harbor area: to provide a long-term home for water-dependent, marine industrial tenants. These operations may include commercial fishing, seafood processing, barge and tug operations, fueling depots, shipyards, marinas, cargo handling, cold storage, and other maritime support and relevant institutional uses such as fire stations. The Harbor Department desires to develop the properties in a manner which will provide an economic return to the Harbor Department and act as a catalyst for further economic development of the Fish Harbor area.
