Ablaze She Came in the Dream is an original composition by flutist Peter H. Bloom.  Mr. Bloom (flute, alto flute, bass flute, piccolo) concertizes in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand; appears on 40 recordings; and has given workshops, master classes and lecture-demos across the globe.  He is a faculty member of the Snow Pond Composers Workshop; is contributing editor for Noteworthy Sheet Music; serves as historical performance consultant to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston; and is a winner of the American Musicological Society's Noah Greenberg Award.   His career encompasses diverse chamber music from the Renaissance to the 21st century, as well as jazz standards, blues, bebop, free improvisation, and the avant-garde.

Ablaze She Came in the Dream comprises eleven brief episodes, which may be repeated any number of times during a performance.  Ablaze is intended to serve as an interpretive vehicle for the performers and thus should be executed freely and expressively.  In its original version, the work was scored for flute, viola, and guitar (or electric guitar); the premier performance, given in November, 2014, and featuring Peter H. Bloom on flute, Frank Grimes on viola, and Anastasiya Dumma on electric guitar, may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/channels/680882/112980408.

More recently, the composer adapted Ablaze for flute, cello, and guitar, so he could perform the work with a cellist friend.  As with the original instrumentation, all players should feel free to employ electronics.  Click the following link to be transferred to the listing for the flute-cello-guitar edition of Ablaze She Came in the Dream on the Noteworthy Sheet Music website, where you will find pricing and additional information about the piece: https://www.noteworthysheetmusic.com/sheet-music/ensemble-tags/flute-wmixed-ensembles/400-bloom-ablaze-she-came-in-the-dream-flute-cello-and-guitar.  This work is recommended for advanced, adventurous players and will surely spice up any concert program as it's both exciting to listen to and fun to perform.
