"We are thrilled to provide a new computer lab for Edge, who provide an invaluable service to low-income Manitobans to help them find long-term employment and subsequently, independence" Edge is a non-profit, charitable organization that assists individuals challenged by unemployment through comprehensive employment training. Their year-long training program helps upwards of 70 disadvantaged individuals each year, in addition to countless others, who receive resume-writing assistance and short-term counseling. "Having access to technology, whether to identify employment opportunities, improve keyboarding and basic computer skills or to master business applications such as Microsoft Office is critical to our clients' success in our Career Program" says Miles Murphy, executive director of Edge. "The computers we currently use in our program have reached the end of their useful life and have been in need of replacement for some time. We are grateful to ERA for being able to help us to obtain up-to-date, recycled computers so that we can continue to meet our clients' needs. Our work, to help low-income and disadvantaged people in our community to obtain long-term meaningful employment would not be possible without the generous help of organizations like ERA" Media representatives are invited to attend and cover this donation story as ERA presents Edge with 30 computers.
